Interior Remodeling

Although we do just about everything, Image Contracting is known best for the high quality interior remodeling we have built our reputation on.

This includes kitchens and bathrooms which have their own dedicated sections. We are also experts at removing (or adding) interior walls.

Common projects include: upgrading or adding trim like crown moulding or wainscoting, adding built-ins, refinishing or adding flooring, tile, removing walls to enlarge spaces (including load-bearing walls), adding walls to reconfigure spaces.

We have design services available if you need a little help.

What to expect...

Interior remodeling projects vary widely in cost. You can expect to pay anything from $1000 for a day of trim installation to $50,000 or more to reconfigure and remodel an entire floor. Let's talk about what you have in mind and come up with a proposal.

Family Room

Family Room Transformation

This was a major makeover of the home's original, dated, and unused great room. Our designer brought this client to us to make the dream they had put to paper a reality.

The star of this project is the reclaimed 1700s framing timber re-purposed to the new mantle. We stabilized and restored the 300 year old wood to last indefinitely. In addition, we removed the brick monstrosity from the corner, patched-in the hardwood flooring, re-faced the fireplace with stone, built and installed the built-in bookcases, added shiplap to the fireplace, wired the room for home theater, and built and installed a room-width storage bench and window seat to the opposite side. We also repaired damaged drywall and painted ceilings, walls and trim.

What to expect...

For a major, high-end room makeover like this, you can expect to budget between $25,000-$40,000 complete.

First Floor Makeover

Dazzling Whole-Floor Makeover

This dramatic update was for a great client's attached condo. We took the cookie-cutter first floor and transformed it to an elegant oasis. We painted the entire first floor and added chair rail, picture frame wainscoting, and crown moulding. We worked with the existing kitchen updating it by painting all the cabinets, moving the peninsula to the center to make an island, adding and updating lighting, adding fascia and crown moulding to the cabinets and a new marble backsplash.

What to expect...

The sky's the limit in remodeling a whole floor (or home).

Walk-In Closet

Walk-In Closet

Our clients had a typical, small closet with bi-fold doors which was woefully inadequate. Half of it was unusable because of the sloping ceiling. We built the closet out into a full walk-in closet. Added lighting and a closet organizing system the client provided, with some modifications for additional storage and functionality.

Mudroom

Closet to Mudroom

The entry from the garage into the home had always been a sore spot for our clients. The obligatory closet  was not practical for their school-age kids to store their backpacks, jackets, boots, etc. Plus, you walked right in from being out in our New England weather onto hardwood and it was a mess. In addition, it was a very cramped space for a mom or dad and two kids.

They wanted a real mudroom type entry and a built-in bench seat with storage for the kids. They were done with the closet! We removed the closet, repaired the walls and ceiling, swapped the hardwood for tile, and painted. We assembled and permanently installed the bench seat our clients had purchased. (We also custom-build these.) They were thrilled with the outcome and it's working out perfectly for them.

Add Bedroom

Add a Basement Bedroom

This project was in a split style home (raised ranch). The home had a finished basement with a full bath, one
bedroom and a family room. They wanted to add another bedroom by adding closets to the family room.

We removed the carpet and replaced it with brand new laminate flooring, framed and created the closets, added lighting and a closet storage system, painted walls and ceiling and hand-finished and installed the beautiful stained doors and new woodwork.

Sunroom

Sunroom Refresh

This project demonstrates the dramatic improvement relatively simple changes can make. In this 4 season sunroom, we removed the carpeting and installed new luxury vinyl plank flooring. We patched and painted the walls and ceiling (which had some water damage). The result is a space that feels brighter and more inviting with a touch of elegance.

Closet to Builtin

Closet to Built-In

This closet was technically in a bedroom, but our client had converted it into his home office and planned to never use the closet, but did want additional, functional storage space. He asked us to convert the closet into a "built-in". The outcome was exactly what he had envisioned and the closet could even eventually be converted back if someone (future owner) desired.

Wainscoting

Wainscoting

Adding or changing trim is one of the most dramatic and cost-effective ways to change the look and feel of your home without a major remodel. Unlike paint colors, carpeting or cabinet designs, quality trimwork never goes out of style. In fact, old world beautiful woodwork is exactly what has always made antique homes sought after.

Adding wainscoting to a room or staircase is at the top of the list. Combine it with new crown moulding for an elegant and timeless look.

What to expect...

Wainscoting is a specialized skill to do right. You should expect to pay $2,000-$5,000 for a room, hallway or staircase, depending on the details.

Crown Moulding

Crown Moulding

Like wainscoting, crown moulding packs a lot of visual punch in a budget-friendly way. Unlike wainscoting, however, crown moulding can go in literally every single room in your home. You can choose different sizes or styles for different rooms, and the smallest powder room to the grandest dining room will look amazing.

Click on "View Gallery" and you can see some examples of the many crown moulding projects we have completed. We typically also do all the filling, caulking and painting to ensure a flawless result.

What to expect...

You should expect to pay $1000 - $2000 per room, installed and painted.
