Bathrooms
Image Contracting creates award-winning and magazine-featured bathrooms for the most discerning clientele...
Does your bathroom need a makeover? Maybe just a new vanity? Or, maybe it's time to realize your dream of a Pinterest® bathroom! When it comes to bathrooms, we do it all.
Our bathroom projects fall into one of two broad categories: bathroom makeovers (cosmetic updates) and full bathroom remodels.
Bathroom Makeover
This type of project is intended to breathe new life into a tired space. Have you had enough of your green sinks and pink countertops? A project in this category could be as small as changing out a vanity, sinks and countertop or refreshing and replacing just about everything except for a shower and/or bathtub. Depending on overall scope and size of the project, it may or may not include a tiled tub surround. You could also expect a powder room update to fall into this category.
Full Bathroom Remodel
Here is where we find most potential clients get tripped-up with their budget expectations. A full bathroom remodel is a major remodeling project and in a nutshell will cost as much as, or even more than, a kitchen remodel.
The best way to determine where your project falls, or where you want it to fall, is to review our general guidelines below.
With limited exceptions for smaller makeovers, an Image Contracting bathroom project will start at $50,000, with the majority of our master bathroom projects falling in the $75,000-$150,000 range.
What to expect...
Of all the remodel projects we do, people seem to have the least idea of what to expect budget-wise when it comes to bathrooms. Perhaps it's the small space that's deceptive.
According to Remodeling Magazine, the 2021 average cost of a mid-range bathroom remodel is around $30,000 and an upscale major bathroom remodel is around $89,000. Size, layout, finishes chosen, and any relocation or addition of plumbing will dramatically affect these averages.

Bedford EuroSpa
We were proud to be recognized with a Gold Cornerstone Award from the NH Home Builders Association for this dramatic transformation. Our project was also featured in NH Home Magazine's 2021 Kitchen & Bath Showcase issue (Sept/Oct 2021).
This is an en suite primary bathroom in Bedford, NH. Our clients had a definite vision for their dream bath, and it's a stark contrast to the typical New England style. Having spent many years living abroad in Europe, they wanted to re-create the sleek, clean lines they were accustomed to, while incorporating luxurious functionality. The end result feels like the oasis of a fine European-style spa.
The old bathroom had an old and unused sunken whirlpool-style tub, outdated finishes and a cave-like stall

shower/toilet area. It's now open, airy and bright! We added some unique trick finishes like the app-controlled under vanity LED lighting to further highlight its floating design and to offer functional night-lighting. The waterfall edge on the quartz countertop and wave-tile wainscoting on the walls are timeless in their opulent neutrality.

"Old Navy"
This Bedford en suite primary bathroom was featured in NH Home Magazine's 2022 Kitchen & Bath Showcase issue (Sept/Oct 2022).
Our clients, both retired Naval officers, had a definitive vision for their dream bathroom. Fans of early to mid-20th century architecture, they wanted something elegant and unique, but classic and timeless. "We didn't want to look at our bathroom in 5 years and say 'why did we do that?'" said our client. They wanted to pay homage to the turn-of-the-century Colonial they had recently moved from in Norfolk, VA.
The existing bathroom was horrific. Almost every inch was covered in the same marble tile. It had the ubiquitous and never-used built-in jet tub, and a cramped fiberglass shower stall. We demo'd everything down to the studs and joists. Plumbing was extensively reconfigured to relocate the toilet, add the second vanity, and create the luxurious walk-in shower. We removed one double-hung window and replaced it with a slim picture window to accommodate the new shower. The under-vanity toekick heater was changed to baseboard registers under the windows.
The classic mosaic floor is heated. The furniture vanities are finished in "Dress Blues" and all the metal finished throughout are polished chrome. The Sherwin Williams Hazel wall color picks up the same color veining in the quartz countertops. The shower with 3 niches and a shaving shelf features timeless, white subway tile with navy blue pencil trim and matching hex-mosaic floor. The two retro-looking vanity mirrors are lighted with hard-wired switching. We installed period-style beadboard wainscoting with wide plank trim. We even changed the door to a 3-panel shaker style with crystal knob.
Our clients were meticulous in their expectations and unwavering in their design decisions. We executed their bespoke vision to perfection.

Upscale Update
This is an en suite master bathroom in Bedford, NH. It was the original, typical early 2000s "upscale" builder bathroom, complete with corner tub and vinyl checkerboard floor!
We gave this bathroom a high-end update on a budget. Click on "View Project" for details and more photos.

Hall Bath Happiness
This is an example of a full - but basic - bathroom remodel.
This was a second floor hall bath we completed in Amherst, NH. It is the only bathroom for the 3 upstairs bedrooms. As you can see, this space began with outdated cabinetry, green tiles, less-than-attractive light fixtures and even a mismatched window.
This bathroom was stripped to the studs and everything except the wall-hung toilet is brand new. We even performed some creative woodwork to replace the old-school lever door handle with a locking door knob in a finish to match the other fixtures.

Powerhouse Powder Room
This is one of our favorite projects! The whimsy and elegance is undeniable. This is a small powder room right off the kitchen. It was boring and bland, utilitarian at best, and our clients wanted to make a statement.
This shows how you can take a small space and make it something special.

New Love
This is a full bath we updated in Nashua, NH. At our first meeting, our client said she literally hated going into her bathroom. She said just being in there made her angry. It had been remodeled quite badly as a DIY project by a previous homeowner. In fact, the bulk of time and cost on this project was correcting everything that was wrong, from plumbing and electric to trim and paint.
Aside from correcting problems, our prime directive was: the useless pedestal sink had to go. Our client had zero usable space to even put a toothbrush on.
Our client reported to us after finishing the project that she loved her new bathroom and it had actually become her new "happy place".

Basic Update
This full guest bath in Bedford, NH got a complete overhaul. This shows the difference a "basic update" can make with minimal modifications. New flooring, new vanity, new medicine cabinet, new lighting, and of course the wallpaper was removed and walls & ceiling painted.

Little Gem
This small powder room is right off the kitchen and was part of a first floor remodel and new kitchen project.
This tiny space experienced a major change. We removed the tile floor and installed hardwood to match the rest of the flooring. Replaced all the trim with new white trim, including upgraded baseboards. Repaired drywall, painted, and installed a new navy blue vanity with gold handles and a gold faucet
